Brendan Krebs, managing director, head of advisor recruiting and head of advisor acquisition and integration for Wells Fargo’s wealth and investment management division, has left the firm, the company confirmed.

Krebs, who held that position for less than a year, will join a competing firm.

James Craven, head of national sales at Wells Fargo, will oversee advisor recruiting until a replacement is named.

“Year over year, our financial advisor hiring is up more than 50%, and directly tied to the strength of our leaders across our markets,” said Sol Gindi, head of Wells Fargo Advisors, in an emailed statement. “I believe we have the best leaders in the business who are spreading the word about why Wells Fargo is the right place for advisors to build their practices. I’m looking forward to our continued momentum with James at the helm.”

Just this week, Wells Fargo recruited two advisors in San Jose, Calif., to its bank channel. Jason Lee and Ron Fetsch joined from Morgan Stanley after nine years with the wirehouse. They have $3.8 million in trailing 12-month production and manage nearly $400 million in assets.

Krebs started at Wells Fargo in 2015 as a regional business director for the Northeast. Prior to that, he had short stints at GL Group and Fisher Investments. He started his career as a financial advisor at Merrill Lynch.
