As part of a two-part series in 1979, Registered Representative ran a feature “You are What You Wear.” A key to success in the business, building a suitable wardrobe depends on occupation, geography, climate, economy, versatility and common sense, according to the article. “The guiding principle for the man who understands that you are what you wear is: nothing wears as well as tradition. It reflects class repetition.”

With that in mind, we went back into the archives to see just what advisors were wearing in the 1970s.
