The technology platforms used by Charles Schwab’s independent advisory firms now have new oversight. Andrew Salesky, who previously led efforts to competitively maximize the firm’s expanding troves of data, has been named the new head of advisor technology solutions.

Salesky served as the company’s first global data officer in 2014, where he emphasized the predictive nature of properly utilizing data and the importance of developing an “organizational followership.” He was in charge of the 2011 Schwab financial advisor franchise rollout into suburbs across the country, which got off to a slow start but gathered steam the following year. Since joining the firm in 1995, he helped create the company’s first fee-based advice offering and developed the Schwab Advisor Network, the first revenue-sharing referral model for affiliated fee-based advisors.

“In his more than 20 years at Schwab, Andrew has worked in both Investor Services and Advisor Services,” the company said in a statement, “and has an extensive background that includes expertise in firm-wide data and analytics and client relationship leadership.”

He fills the vacancy in advisor technology created by Ed Obuchowski’s April departure to become chief technology officer at Advisor Group.
