African American business and lifestyle magazine Savoy has recognized Northern Trust Asset Management President Shundrawn Thomas as one of “2020’s Most Influential Black Executives in Corporate America.” Candidates for the list are chosen “based upon their exemplary record of accomplishments and influence while working to better their community and inspire others,” the magazine says.

Thomas has been instrumental in the asset manager’s diversity and inclusion efforts, appointing four additional women or minorities to the firm’s investment management executive committee. Eleven of the 15 members of that committee are women and minorities.

“Throughout his career he has inspired countless individuals not only through his professional work, but also through mentoring and community involvement,” said Northern Trust Chairman and CEO Michael O’Grady. “His work in promoting diversity and inclusion encompasses a full range of underrepresented groups including minorities, women, veterans, and disabled individuals.”

Before joining Northern Trust, Thomas held leadership positions at Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley.
