Morgan Stanley’s chief executive James Gorman told employees of the wirehouse this morning that he had tested positive for coronavirus in late March and has since recovered from the virus, according to published reports.

The 61-year-old Gorman, who has been in the CEO seat for the last 10 years, gave the news via a 10-minute video posted to the firm’s intranet site. He said he had flu-like symptoms toward the middle of March, and tested positive for the virus at the end of last month. His symptoms were never severe, and he was never hospitalized. He said he’s since been cleared by his doctors.

Gorman has continued to run the firm despite the illness. The firm’s stock price was up 3.5% as of 2:45 p.m. ET Thursday, on the news.
