Divisha Kapur, a Bingham Farms, Mich.-based advisor with $105 million in client assets, has moved her book of business back to Ameriprise after 23 years elsewhere, joining the broker/dealer’s independent contractor division.

Kapur started at Ameriprise in 1993 and left in 1997 seeking more flexibility. She was affiliated with Vestax Securities and then, most recently, Hantz Financial Services. She rejoined Ameriprise because the firm was supportive of her plan to build a family office and form relationships with CPAs.

“I was pleasantly surprised to learn how Ameriprise evolved to become a leader in supporting independent advisors,” she said in a statement. “The firm lets advisors decide how to design their practices, yet provides the support, infrastructure and financial planning expertise needed to exceed clients’ expectations.”

Ameriprise recently had another advisor rejoin after many years. Financial advisor Timothy O’Connor, who manages $143 million in client assets, returned to the firm’s independent channel after 26 years at other brokerages, most recently Wells Fargo Advisors.
