This week's cover of The Economist said it all: investors have 'nowhere to hide' in the current market environment. Indeed, with low yields on cash and Treasuries and a volatile equity market, it's hard to see where to turn to.We hear MLPs can offer some income in a low interest rate environment, if chosen correctly. That said, clients seem to be more caught up in simply not losing money, rather than raking in the returns. Some advisors are questioning modern portfolio theory altogether, in search of better asset allocation solutions.
