Wealth-X, a firm that researches ultra-high-net-worth individuals, compiled a list of the richest self-made entrepreneurs in America. The 10 names on their list are worth $407.4 billion combined, 20 percent of total UHNW wealth, and have a market capitalization of $1.7 trillion.

Our list here looks at the top five. Others in the top 10 included Google's Larry Page, Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg, Amazon co-founders Jeff Bezos and Sergey Brin, and Icahn Enterprises' Carl Icahn.
