Jones reps-
Are you still finanically responsible if an error occurs or has that policy changed as well?
Yes we are still responsible for errors we make. What gave you the impression that the policy changed?
RD-
The GP's are tapping your sorry arse...every day you stay. Just take one for the gipper!
All that talk about your next appt. and here you are posting ... On your way home tonight don't linger too long at the local rest area.If you are an employee, unless it's fraud, I would think that the firm is on very thin ice in terms of making you pay for mistakes. Remember they are your OSJ, they are responsible.
If overtime lawsuits are the norm, my guess it won't be long before someone takes Jones on regarding this policy. I believe that at Smith Barney they aren't responsible anymore. I guess I just assumed that if other firms are changing their policy that the greatest firm on the planet would be a trail blazer instead following the herd.Gentlemen - and I use that term loosely - how about we all start acting like adults? Spirited debate is one thing, but this latest use of gay humor is getting really old. Let’s just go back to calling him a moron and leaving his sexuality out of it.

West coast time dude. Plenty of time before I need rest. How much did you gross today? I know 7 posts today and your man will go down on you, that's your definition of a great day...Big Cheese - I didn’t say anything about you going home. That was Volt. I’ve got over $30,000 grossed this month so far. So SHUT YOUR MOUTH WHEN YOU’RE TALKING TO ME!~

Perhaps because mine hasn't and I just don't care that much about what happens at other firms. I don't know that I agree that they should. I think there's a difference between a bond trader making a mistake on a block of bonds he's putting into inventory and me buying instead of selling and missing a higher price on a stock trade. On one hand you're dealing with client money, on the other you're dealing with the firm's assets. It might be a grey line, but IMHO there's still a line. You just had to start it didn't you? You might as well email me an updated copy of your performance chart so we can get the argument over quickly.Big Cheese - I didn’t say anything about you going home. That was Volt. I agree. The forum is running rampant with gay jokes today. I think there is a need for new material around here.Gentlemen - and I use that term loosely - how about we all start acting like adults? If you were your own manager perhaps you would have a point. In the eyes of the regulators it comes down to oversight. Theoretically, they are supposed to oversee everything you do and approve it before it settles. So during the settlement process if there is a loss, you pay and as an employee you shouldn't be responsible for mistakes, at least in my state. Maybe Missouri is different. RD- 30K is good and this month you have me but its early. Clearly you are spending some time prospecting. Spiff must be miffed. Are you Seg 3?It’s quite easy to email your performance summary. Go to the right hand corner, click view & print. It will pull up a pdf. Save the pdf under “my documents.” Open a new messages, attach the document. Send. Works like a charm.

They don't have the ability to know whether it's correct or not. The only time I have an error is if I sell or buy something that shouldn't have been bought or sold. For instance if I erroneously buy an extra 100 shares of XOM. My FSD doesn't have any way of knowing if I was supposed to buy 100 or 200 shares. Once I figure out I was supposed to only buy 100, then there could be a loss when Jones has to correct the trade. I'm responsible if there is a loss. If the loss is huge, sometimes Jones will work with you on the loss. I've never had a big loss, but I've heard they can be somewhat generous. Why would I be miffed if Wind is having a great month? As an owner of the company, shouldn't I be thrilled that one of my employees is doing a great job? Isn't that what a partnership is about?
RD- I'll take you on face value that your having your best month ever.
Best month so far...Yes. Only good month, NO. I'm not Seg 3, but thats only because of the waiting period. According to my screen my average is like $14,000. It will be around $20,000 rolling 4 month average after this month and next month. As an employee you can’t be held responsible for a loss in California. Now most of you would say we are so left that it doesn’t suprise you, but the rest of the country had no problem embracing overtime and that was clearly about whether or not as an employee you would be entitled to overtime. The same applies to losses.Either you are an employee or you aren’t.
Anyone from any of the wirehouses care to add to this... BTW...Did I miss something. Is RD Wind in disguise (notice I didn't say in drag)
