How do I find out what they put on my U-5??
NO. I am not going to take a month off to seek rehab. The problem is NOT with my consumption on a daily basis. I was having fun as everyone was on that Saturday night. Maybe I went over the top but that happens.
See, I agree with you. Rehab ain't the answer. First, get legal representation (start with our local attorney at the very least (see legal section). Second, get your client list ASAP including all pertinent account information and a proof of production run for your last twelve months. Third, start contacting various indy firms or read these threads, perform due diligence, and interview the top three firms that seem to fit. Make your decision and don't look back.
Good luck.
This was funny. REALLY funny. Made my day funny.
I can just see EDJ firing a growth broker because he was drinking at regionals. Yeppir! Sure.
Please rookies. Do your research.
GolFA is recruiting Jones reps for his indy practice. Paid 12 step program could be part of the bonus incentive.

The lesson here is, alway have a copy of your book (at very least names and phone numbers) somewhere outside of the office. In the past five months I’ve had two guys talking to me who had not one shred of a book when they were unexpectedly terminated…
Newbs(and some vets) pay attention if you work for a wire, bank, or regional! That is the best piece of advice posted on this forum in days if not weeks.
Remember-no matter how much you like your current firm or trust your current branch manager, in their eyes(and technically in the eyes of the law) you are an employee and your clients are THEIR clients!
This advice was given to me by a sage vet when I was a couple years in the biz, and while I never really needed to use it on short notice, it gave me peace of mind, confidence when backed in a corner on occasion, and made starting transition planning easier when I decided to make a planned move.
Keep a current list of contact info(phone and address) for ALL of your clients at home. Update it every few months.
I don’t mean this as an indy versus wire thing. It’s just a real good idea to do it, it’s common sense, and yet it’s surprising how many people overlook it.

He had to have done something else while he was drunk to bring the full force of HR down on him like that.
I'd love to know the rest of the story but doubt we'll ever get it.
Hey New Life-good luck. These guys are giving you some good advice. PM me if you want contact info for LPL, or just go to www.joinlpl.com .
New Life - you should be able to go to the NASDR site and do a broker check on yourself to see what they put on your records.

I am sure there is something else behind this but can only go on what has been said to me. I did talk to the person that reported my behavior and she said that she was sorry that she was only concerned about my welfare.

I think this is a good lesson for everyone to learn at New Life's expense. What you do and consume on your own time at your own risk is your business. Just because someone throws a bunch of alcohol at you at a company function doesn't mean you need to consume all of it. I don't drink often, but I would think common sense would say don't drink too much if there are people around who could have an immediate and serious impact on your career path.
At Jones Regional Meetings you might have 2 or 3 GPs plus the RL. All of them are in a position to end your career quickly if things get out of hand. Jones likes to try to keep our image squeaky clean, so public intoxication isn't tolerated. We've had more than one GP lose their status because of it, so it applies to everyone. At our Regional this summer we had a couple of guys who were asked by the RL to go back to their rooms Saturday night because they'd had a few too many. Better the RL than the GP.
"What you do and consume on your own time at your own risk is your business."
But BTW, if you use your FMA debit card at the liquor store and the bars and so on... If they want to, they will access those records and use it as evidence against you.
Of course, if you needed to turn the table on them you might say, "Gee, couldn't they see all the hundreds of dollars I spend in bars and booze stores every week?" And so the firm might play offensive defense (a pre-emptive strike if you will).
Spaceman although I agree with your statements. Jones has been known to fire other people for less obvious reasons. I have long believed and will say again EDJ model of business is flawed. You cannot manage people from miles away with emails and phone calls.
In my old region EDJ fired a 15yr veteran while she was in the hospital. Thats the kind of misogynistic organization they are.
I'm sure everyone here knows of at least one case of abuse at EDJ.
Rumor has it the GP's kids run rampant using the corporate cards...hang out at the Jones suite at Busch Stadium and drink and eat on the company or the backs of the brokers who are going broke working for them. What a joke this company is...
Sorry to burst your bubble spears, but you can't just "hang out" at the Jones suite at the stadium. An invite to the suite is hard to come by and I'm pretty sure they don't waste a lot of those tickets on GPs kids. Nice try though.
The lady in the hospital is a sad story. What, was she in a coma and couldn't call her office for months on end? Nobody, like her BOA, knew where she was? It would take a while for anyone at the home office to figure out she wasn't coming to work. In fact the BOA would have to call and voice some concern about her missing FA. I don't have any grounds to say you're wrong, but something in that story stinks.
The HR part of the things you guys are brining up
Sorry, wrong key.
The HR part of the things you guys are brining up are only known to a few people and by law they aren't talking. So what you may see as a wrongful termination, has probably been well documented and a long time coming.
I heard it first hand, and it wasn't just Busch stadium...Fox and other venues around town...so YOUR wrong...or you just don't know...
OK, fine. You're right, I'm wrong. Happy?
So...you talked to a GP who said "Yeah spears, it's great being a GP. I get my kids into ball games, concerts, plays, anything I want. Pull a few strings, use the ol' corporate credit card and let em run. I love the green and white. Best thing about it is that nobody audits my receipts. Boy I'm really sticking it to those dumb brokers. Hey, N-SYNC is in town, you wanna go? Oh, you've already got tickets. Front row! Really! Cool, see you there."
I had a successful business owner tell me many years ago..."The more people you push aside or down on your way to success..the more drag those pushed aside will be...and ultimately they will drag you down...ultimately to failure" Do you feel the drag Spiffy....I'm glad I could allow the GP flunky kids to drink on my 65%...
Spaceman-well documented yes, by Jones. Here is the truth. RL now GP public humiliates an IR in his region at a Regional Meeting because he stutters when making a speech. Absolutely devastes this guy with no remorse. Humiliates others including women and minorities. Is he fired no he gets promoted to GP.
Another IR a transfer broker with EDJ 10+ years very successfull. Goes through a nasty divorce where his wife leaves him after 20 years of marriage. Goes into a slump and can't get out of it is fired for lack of production.
The women I mentioned earlier wasn't in a coma she had a surgery, and was only gone from her office 3 days.
Whatever reason you think EDJ is justified in getting rid of these people is an excuse to grab the assets of the office and realocate them to other IR's who lick the butts of the powers that be.
“Norton, my pal… Be nice to the people you meet on the way up! 'Cause they’re the same people you’ll meet when you’re on the way down!”
Ed pwns…Not sure…Client called today and said he and his golf buddies drove by the store and it had a big CLOSED sign in the window…
