Phillies sweep the Mets!

Four close games ending with a marathon today.
And Billy Wagner serves "one swing path Burrell" another homerun pitch.
Wagner's fouth blown save, second against the Phillies.
Since Wagner's ill advised comment about Burrell, Burrell has faced Wagner exactly two times. Both with the same result, homeruns.
I'm enjoying it while it lasts. I don't think the Phils have the pitching to take the NL East. But the last few days have been refreshing.
Blarm...what say you?!!
BG, I do enjoy when a pitcher talks smack about another player and then gets served...regardless of who the teams are...

Yeah, it's sweet. Wagner's a bit of a jerk anyway.
I too await Blarms response. No doubt he's drowning himself in a case of beer. As is my BOM.
huge philly fan, but burrell has faced wags and k’d this year, i am pretty sure i remember the game. but yeah, couldn’t happen to a nicer guy than wags. i def remember the bomb he gave up to biggio few years ago which cost philly a game in the final week when they were chasing houston.
brown hole cole better come back if they expect to have any chance at all.
Oh my... What an absolute debacle that series was... Got our a$$ kicked by the Phillies (not really, all close games...) and now we face the F-ing Braves this weekend...
The Mets are way too inconsistent with their hitting, the pitching as well... Lets just say that the longer the season goes, the less confident I am in thinking this team has the talent to play deep into October...
I still think they will win the NL East- barely...
Although the Mets are leading Atlanta as I write this 4-1 in the 8th, I think they are not at all a sure bet to even barely take the East. I am a big Met fan from way back- used to sit thru doubleheadders at the Polo Grounds, so dont get me wrong - but geez - the pitching - not that their hitting is so great lately. You gotta have pitching down the stretch. You can hope for the Martinez of old, but definately dont expect it. I had that surgery, and its brutal to come back from.
And with the Phils just 2 games back, this is now anybodys race.
In Pedro We Trust...
With Martinez coming back we get a solid #2 starter for our rotation. Keep John Maine at #1, with John Glavine and El Duque finishing the playoff rotation.
I was pleasantly surpised when I emerged from my 5 day Labor Day bender to see that we had swept the Braves. That tells me that after dropping 4 close ones in Philly that this team has some heart and perseverance... GO METS !!!!
If the mets would kindly stop winning maybe we could gain some ground.
The Dbacks need a September slump as well.
All season our poor pitching has hamstrung us. Now our bats fall silent as well.
BG- You guys are smoking the ball right now...
I would actually like to see Arizona take out the Padres. That rotation of Peavy, Maddux and Chris Young in a short series could end any teams season REAL quick...
The Phils have been smokin the ball all season. We have one of the game's top offences. Yet, last weekend against the fish we couldn't get a hit.
We've lost almost every game in which we scored 4 or less runs. And the there was the debackle yesterday. Lost 9-8 to the Braves in the bottom of the 9th. 7 unanswered runs in the last two innings. Mets lost, Dbacks lost, so we didn't give up any ground. Still...
Eagle's start Sunday favored in Greenbay.
You guys missed a great chance to catch a game on us… I was shocked when I saw that… Time is on our side at this point. Hopefully you can make a run at us when we play next week or perhaps get in via wild card…

Unfortunately for us, after the sweep, your guys have the Phillies names written in blood on the locker room wall. That's going to be a tough series for us. But we'll see.
For us to make the wildcard, with 23 games left, we have to go something like 15 and 8, which is well above our average. Even if we manage to do that we need the west coast teams to play below their averages. So, lots of luck with that happening.
Anything can happen, that's why they play the games, but i'm afraid that this past week married us to our fate of another playoff-less year.
Even though I work in philly I am surrounded by Mets and Giants fans. The sweep was sweet for me, but in the end, they get the last laugh.
Anyone catch the Colts demolition of what I thought was a pretty good New Orleans team? It was particularly ironic that Manning scorched Jason David for three long touchdowns after he signed the $16 million offer sheet to go from the Colts to the Saints after last season…
