O.N. Investment Management Co. (ONIMCO), a subsidiary of The Ohio National Life Insurance Company, announced Wednesday its advisors are using the Envestnet Insurance Exchange to provide insurance and annuities to clients of the firm. It is among the first firms to have announced it is using the platform that was broadly launched by Envestnet last year

Advisors at ONIMCO using Envestnet Insurance Exchange will be able to combine their managed account and insurance businesses, said John Yackel, head of strategic initiatives at Envestnet. “That’s a broker-dealer with a couple hundred financial advisors who are insurance-licensed that will be leveraging this platform,” he wrote in a prepared statment.

“Incorporating protection strategies into the wealth management process is a major step forward in our work to develop a holistic platform that enables advisors to help customers meet their short- and long-term needs,” he wrote.

“By integrating annuities within the Envestnet platform our advisors can help provide clients with retirement security, while streamlining our advisory lifecycle workflow via a full digital experience,” said Adam Mackintosh, second vice president at the Investment advisory division of ONIMCO. He noted the “efficient access to protection strategies and to a technology platform that helps balance growth and security” that affiliated advisors will be able to utilize.
