Size matters
A Spectrem Group survey last summer of 2,500 people who contribute to a defined contribution savings plan found that the electronic tablet, with its larger screen, was preferred to smartphones for a range of financial activities. Consumers spend more hours per week on their tablets, and the activities vary by device; smartphones are used chiefly for checking balances and speaking with advisors, while tablets are preferred for trading and investment research. The report concludes that mobile apps need to be seen as a fundamental tool for communicating with investors.
