A Troy, Mich.-based coach and Ameriprise advisor and two executives are launching a new company that will provide mergers and acquisitions services to advisors. Financial advisor Anthony Whitbeck, who will serve as CEO of the new venture, co-founded Advisor Legacy, along with Stephen Bratta, CFO, and Nicholas Tucker, COO. The three executives hope to fill the gap between practice-listing marketplaces and in-house succession-planning departments at broker/dealers and custodians.

Unlike some other M&A-focused firms, Advisor Legacy will work with existing service providers and succession departments to serve advisors in this area. It will provide business valuations, deal support, seller advocacy and continuity planning.

The Advisor Legacy team can represent buyers or sellers in transactions, and the company is channel- and size-agnostic. Todd Doherty serves as the primary consultant for the firm's M&A activities.

“Advisor Legacy is different from our competitors because we provide a very high-touch experience and because we seek to build a collaborative relationship with succession departments and other service providers,” Whitbeck said. “We provide the objective, third-party perspective and knowledge needed to ensure a successful transaction and build a strong relationship with our clients through the process.”

Whitbeck, Bratta and Tucker also run Key Management Group, a coaching firm.
