2. El Paso, Texas
3. Louisville, Ky.
4. Las Vegas
5. Albuquerque, N.M.
6. Tucson, Ariz.
7. Fresno, Calif.
8. Virginia Beach, Va.
9. Colorado Springs, Colo.
10. Omaha, Neb.
Please email your solution to John Kador at firstname.lastname@example.org using the subject line “Ten Cities.” Deadline is March 4, 2014. One entrant with the correct answer (or a creative alternative) will receive a signed copy of John Kador’s How to Ace the Brainteaser Job Interview. Good luck to all.
Solution to previous puzzler: Guess the Sequence
To recap: What is the final letter in the sequence: Y Y H L Y E Y T R R R ?
Solution: R. This sequence is based on the final letters of the months of the year in order from JanuarY to DecembeR. We received over 100 correct responses, with a few quantitative readers with time on their hands offering very elaborate solutions. Honorable mention goes to Vito Francone, a financial advisor at Newport Beach, Calif.-based Independent Financial Group, for calculating the solution using an entirely different method. Miraculously, Vito arrived at the correct answer by using the value of Scrabble letter tiles.
Of the readers who guessed that the sequence was the months of the year, the winner is Deane Curtiss, senior vice president of investments, Curtiss Schulze Group, Rancho Santa Fe, Calif. Congratulations and thanks to all for playing.
