National Planning Corp. added Columbus, Ohio-based advisor Joe Moyer to its team on Friday. Moyer, who joined from LPL Financial, plans to retain $60 million in client assets, according to The Advisor Center, who helped facilitate the move.Earlier this month, The Advisor Center also helped LPL-affiliated Flagship Harbor Advisors recruit Joshua Topp and another advisor who wished to remain anonymous. Both Topp and the second advisor joined from MetLife, with Topp bringing $13 million in client assets with him to Flagship. Both are based in Boston.
Morgan Stanley recently added three advisors to its Virginia and California offices. J. Patrick Kearns joined Morgan Stanley's McLean, Va. office on Jan. 17 from Fulcrum Securities with $185 million in prior assets.In Pleasanton, Calif., Michael Cott and Donald Nejedly joined with a combined $250 million assets under management from RBC.
UBS picked up a team based in Atlanta from Morgan Stanley with $500 million in assets under management. The Apex Group, which includes Adam Thomas, Mike Hennessy, Araya Mesfin, Brandon Brown, Jansen Bailey and Julie Bailey joined UBS on Jan. 13.
Beirne Wealth Consulting, a member of Focus Financial Partners, snagged a four-person, $250 million team from Morgan Stanley on Tuesday. Advisors Christopher Englebert and Daniel Reitz will be based in the firm’s new satellite office in Allentown, PA, along with Elizabeth Garnto and Jamie Englebert, who provide consulting services on defined benefit public pensions and defined contributions and on retirement, estate, educational, tax and estate planning issues. The Allentown office is the third Beirne has opened in the past two years, as well as doubling its assets to $2 billion.
Goldman Sachs Asset Management brought onboard Nadia Papagiannis as director of alternative investment strategy for global third party distribution. Papagiannis joined the firm on Jan. 7 from Morningstar, where she served as director of alternative fund research. Papagiannis will focus on educating clients on liquid alternatives and the role they play in portfolios.
De Pere, Wisc.-based KCD Financial Inc. hired Jordan L. Kimmel as its new chief market strategist on Jan. 6. Kimmel—who has previously worked for national brokerage firms including Dean Witter and A.G. Edwards—brings over 25 years of experience to his new position. Kimmel, based in Chester, N.J., will work remotely for KCD Financial.
