Wealth Advisors With Heart

Meet the Wealth Advisors with Heart 2014

Running a wealth advisory practice is complicated; advisors have to wear multiple hats, put in extra hours and manage more moving parts to stay competitive. So when they devote time to a cause by actually rolling up their sleeves and helping people in their communities or around the world, we feel they deserve recognition.

This year, we pored over nearly 200 nominations for WealthManagement.com’s 34th annual Wealth Advisors with Heart Awards, which honor advisors who put sweat equity into philanthropic and charitable causes. There were so many extraordinary advisors in the bunch that it was hard to narrow it down to just 15, but by Aug. 29, we made our final selections. We believe these  individuals go above and beyond just writing a check or serving on the board of an organization. Take Morgan Stanley advisor Carla Koren, who spends 20 to 30 hours running an after-school literacy program for children. Or how about Ameriprise advisor Brian Douglas: He logged over 500 hours as a volunteer policeman.

These 15 stories may prompt you to reflect on your own motivations and values, and perhaps inspire you to volunteer as well. They did for us.
