Bank of America Merrill Lynch has appointed Keith Glenfield as head of the alternative investments group, responsible for providing advisors and clients with access to alternative investment platforms. Previously, Glenfield was chief operating officer for the firm’s global wealth and retirement solutions division.

Jason Berkowitz has joined the Insured Retirement Institute as vice president of regulatory affairs and compliance. Berkowitz recently served as counsel and director of regulatory affairs at Hartford Financial Services Group.

The Financial Planning Association has elected Janet Stanzak as its 2013 FPA president-elect, with her term starting on Jan. 1, 2014. Stanzak will succeed 2013 President Michael Branham, currently in office. Stanzak is the principal and owner of Financial Empowerment in Bloomington, Minn.

Todd Clarke, president of third-party money manager CLS Investments, has been promoted to CEO of the Omaha, Neb.-based firm. Ryan Beach, associate general counsel of CLS’s parent company NorthStar Financial Services, has been tapped to take over for Clarke in his old position.
