Someone told me today that Edward Jones ranked number one for full service brokerage firms in Smart Money magazine, their August '05 issue. Can anyone confirm this?

If so, how do they do it?

"In business for yourself but not by yourself".

Gosh, I haven't heard that for a long time.  During my tenure at Jones, the only times I found myself in business for myself were the days when the bills came in.

I am sure they are rigging the surveys somehow…There is no way all these posters on here are wrong and the general public, 6 million clients and Player are wrong…  well, maybe Player…

Issues much…

And the kool-aid drinkers loved Jim Jones too...what's your point?

Like everything else positive about Jones it must be because the administrators of the survey or its’ participants are morons. Or maybe it’s an excellent firm and there are some negative emotions at work on this site. It is nice to see that this and the JD Power survey were done in January/February, when the firm was supposedly falling apart. Apparently the dozen or so negative posters here represent a relatively small portion of the US population.

'ol Bill has averaged 1.6 mill per month in assets since January. The bad press has clearly been devastating to my business too. I don't know where to turn.....

I love Jones , but LP has to come soon.  Ownership is what many IR's are striving for.  Volunteerism has its limits.  Ownership is the key or Jones can forget growing.

success

vega74 better know as Dip Sh48......Too much Kool Aid

Did JD Power ask the customers how would they feel if they found out their IR had not fully disclosed commissions and or revenue sharing, an the GP's were getting FAT, from IR's pushing certain products...............and the rating would go ?

Get in the real world, when your clients find out what you  IR's and your clones (GP's) and Drones (LP's) have actually covered-up what has happen and not leveled with them...............the crap hits the fan !   I have not failed in transferring accounts from Edward Jones just by asking the question:   "Has you IR fully explained the 75 MIL in fines levied on their firm by the SEC, and their Managing General Partner Douglas 3 MIL Hill was personally fined 3 Mil or face Fraud charges and possibly going to jail?

Gee,  I wonder what this client rates Edward Jones and their IR?     The amazing thing is they have never read or heard about this before now?  Say it ain't so.........joe......... Thanks you for your dishonesty with your clients..........3 Mil Hill

Remember according the Doug 3 "MIL" Hill your clients don't read the WSJ, so any Broker out there that isn't asking your clients that question is an idiot, but not as big an idiot as you are to accept that treatment from your firm to your client....how far the great has fallen...................

Yes, some people can rationalize anything.....others deal in honesty, and facts.....................

player- The survey was in SmartMoney that the topic was started about not JD Power. If you could read rather than putting emoticons on everything you type perhaps you could figure it out. Explain this to me, how is Jones able to rig all of these surveys so that they come out on top? I'll give my 100K if you will just give an answer and stop blaming Mr Hill for everything on the planet.....

Actually, it is more like asking the inmates to grade the asylumn.

Jul 15, 2005 6:50 am

Ms Looney,

If the “inmates” were grading the asylumn, wouldn’t they give it low marks? And who are the inmates? Smart Money magazine? They did the ranking. They used Dalbar for statements, Forrester Research for the trust ranking, JD Power for customer satisfaction and Zacks Wall Street Journal for the 4 year stock ranking. All were the highest of any firm.

Edward Jones must have SOME influence if they can influence all these organizations to sway the numbers/ rankings in their favor.

Your posts usually make more sense, maybe you need to rethink this one?

Big Pay Day

Please explain why Jones has never sent out a letter explaining to your clients about the fines, and their opinion ?

Wining awards for not telling your clients the whole truth, is that really the Jones way?........You must be so proud?

noggin,

Doug 3 Mil Hill, is to blame it was on his watch the FRAUD took place.

As for your 100K, send me the 100K ,  and I will never post on here again...........but then again just like you Jones Drones or clones...you never do as you promise to do.

As for the awards, what questions are asked, like do you get your statement on time, is your office located close to you like the local 7 Eleven, is it opened good hours.........yes you must me proud to win those awards

Do any of them ask the real world questions like:

1) Do you believe your IR is always honest with you in all of their dealings with you ?

2) Do you believe that Edward Jones always puts you the customer 1st. and what about your IR, do they always put you 1st.?

3) Do you trust your Firm or IR to alert you if things change or new things come out about your investments ?

4) Are you aware that your IR wins trips for diversifying your portfolio?     Should they receive extra incentive like trips to diversify your investments, or is it their job?

5) How would you feel if your Firm was fined 75 Million by the SEC, for revenue sharing that lined their GP's pockets, and their Managing General Partner was forced to resign and personally pay 3 Million or go to jail for FRAUD, and they never disclosed this to you ?  Would you continue to do business with them ?

6) Do you think an honest  Firm would not disclose this to you their loyal client or should they be open and honest with full disclosure?

7) How would you feel about your Firm if they said you don't read the WSJ, or Financial Magazines, so you will not find out about their SEC fines, so they disclose it around Christmas for the sole purpose of having less people read it in the local papers, because of the holidays?

8) Would you like to know this Firm is Edward Jones, how would you rate them?

That's a survey There is not one thing that isn't TRUE, that I asked about.    So, Noggin...............I want my 100k

Don't be like your GP's and LP's not able to handle the TRUTH, and when you get called on it, ignore it......... It will not go away...................  I will email you wire instructions to my bank account, you do have the 100K don't you....................

player, why are you wasting so much energy on your jones-bashing? are you a former jones employee? it sure seems kind of strange that you would spend so much effort bashing jones. and, everyone knows that the whole revenue sharing deal was completely legal, and was just a “stick up” by some grandstanding attorney generals. i always discuss fees and commissions to my clients who find it very refreshing. the only people i have ever met who don’t like jones are losers who couldn’t make it. hawg

Hawg, is lying to the SEC legal when they ask for information???

Also, why is Jones the only financial services firm where the head of the firm has to step down in the settlement???

I eagerly await your response...
