as opposed to just dropping out (or getting fired), has anyone ever seen an FA trainee move from the training program into another area within the organization? like product specialist or asset management?

id imagine if one were to investigate internal opportunities, they'd get booted once management caught wind. or do you think the company could potentially help with an internal movement if they though the candidate was still a great overall hire?

I would hope the firm would want to retain good employees. C’mon, everyone knows that the success rate for new FA’s is slim. The days of cold calling, door knocking are over, everyone is doing it so now potentials don’t even want to hear it anymore. Unless you have a huge network already of affluent friends & business associates it is rare to succeed.
If you know for sure that your not going to hit your production numbers I would see what openings are at the firm and have an open honest discussion with your superior. If you’ve already brought some assets over, hopefully your boss is understanding and realistic & will assist in your goal. Good luck.

I completely disagree. The days of cold calling are not over. It still works. It’s hard and I hear no 99/100 times but it works. People who say it doesn’t work aren’t doing it.

has anyone witnessed an ML PMD try to get out of the program by making a move internally? has a PMD approached his/her mentor or director and expressed that this job wasn’t for him/her? or is that just asking to be shown the door?

perhaps the best bet for someone looking to get out of the program is to lay low and look for something outside BofA?
