Hello Folks.  I’ve seen quite a few posts about RIA’s and the like.  I’m by no means an expert, I have solid and conservative views and 8 years experience as a Financial Advisor within the banking and Insurance sectors.  Recently made a poor decision to go with a firm I wont mention who’s product array ended up (not disclosed fully) to be 2 products designed to fit anyone and then had an opportunity to partner with an existing Insurance Agent with long standing ties to the community and a large book of business over 6000 clients who have never been spoken to about investments.  For the past 9 months I’ve been learning the P&C side of his business and meeting with clients assisting them with their various insurance needs and I’m confident that I can assist them with their investments as well.  My issue currently is that I’ve never before gone it on my own and I am seeing a few uphill battles that perhapse someone or several of you can assist me with.  I know I need a Broker/Dealer and perhapse one that has a Hybrid type program so I can also offer fee based solutions when it is suitable.  However I don’t have a client base (recent move to Cali) that I can show a Rolling twelve for and I’m wondering who out there would perhapse allow me to offer all services under one roof.  I’m looking to be able to advise these clients on Mutual Funds (both individual picks and wrap programs), large investments through SEP accounts, Stocks/Bond Portfolios as well as Variable Annuities and Variable Life where needed, (please not the usual blasting that Annuities are terrible, I’m not trying to build a business laddering them out and churning them every 3 - 7 years as some would do I just want to be able to have an extremely secure place for SOME assets in a portfolio model).

To reassert main question, how is this done?  Do you know of any Broker/Dealers with this type of hybrid program that includes all those products, or at least most?  Do you know of a Broker/Dealer who will allow me to register through them without having a rolling 12 (production)?  Any help is helpful, I thank you all in advance.  I have a lot of clients waiting for me to help them and I just need the where withall to facilitate this.

trade pmr does not require you  to have a book of business, call them and talk to Fred van Abbeel.

two things…

First never use your name as a username…

Second: TradePMR would probably be your place, except you can’t do hybrid, their b/d partner requires a certain t-12.

Yeah, guess that was a poor choice for username. haha.  So those guys I could start my own RIA without a book of business but couldn’t get involved with them as far as being able to do VA’s and commission based business through…tough luck I guess.  If that’s right let me know.  Also is this site owned and operated by TradePMR, a lot of advise goes into using their platforms for RIA…< id=“gwProxy” ="">< =“jsCall;” id=“jsProxy” ="">

No, this site is run by a magazine… TradePMR is the most friendly to newer people looking to build their RIA business.
