Move on or hammer 'em?

It depends on if you want to piss them off or not.

Prospect: "I'm not interested"

You: "You're not interested in what?"

or

You: "You're not interested in what, having an open mind which could potentially save you a ton of money you stupid, mother effing idiot who is a waste of my g-d damn time?  I hope your investments go to zero you prick and you come begging to hear what I have to say.  At that point I'll tell you to go eff yourself, asshole"

I'd probably go with the first choice unless you need to let off some steam.

I understand exactly what you are saying.  Most of my clients felt the same way the first time that I called them…

How does it happen that things like this get rewarded by the monitors of this forum?

Because perhaps they know what it is like to build a book of business.  Or else maybe it's that, unlike you, they know the value of a financial advisor and the everyday struggle we endure to become successful.

I know more, or as much, about building a book of business as anybody you'll find posting on this forum.

That I have a degree of disdain for "financial planners" is becuase I have been intimately involved in the hiring and training of thousands of them and know that the younger you are the less qualified you are to shine my shoes, much less offer advice.

I got registered in 1972--that's thirty five years ago.  I have forgotten more than you will ever know so shut up and pay attention.  You'll be better for having done so.

"Whoa......slow down. You're getting ahead of me. I haven't gotten to the interesting part. May I finish, please?"

I dare you to try it. Bobby Hull taught me that one.

Didn't know this was a sex offender forum, too.

Aug 9, 2007 2:32 am

I don't waste my time, unless they have not hung the phone up.  Then I usually ask them why they have not hung up if they are not interested.  That usually gets a hang up at that point.

I do like Bobby's line.  May have to use that one.

Haha Bondo, that's funny.  Let me see if I get this right...They haven't hung up yet, so you say something that you know will get them to hang up?  That cracks me up for some reason.

Not sure I agree with that approach... I just recently had someone cold call me at my home (not a financial advisor, a student loan consolidation person).  The woman used that SAME approach and it only pissed me off.

Here's how the convo went:

- Mr. ****, I'm so and so calling about a new program for student loan consolidation.... yada yada yada..

ME: I'm sorry, but I'm not interested.  Thank you anyway...

WOMAN (in a snide tone): Not interested in WHAT?!

ME (now pissed at her attitude): Whatever the f*** you're trying to sell me!!!!  CLICK!

Anyone who uses the word "convo" after the age of 19 needs to be pimp-slapped.
