I am transitioning from the institutional bond biz to EDJ.  In my previous position I used a Bloomberg terminal and since I had accounts all over the world, I had the messages that came across my Bloomberg forwarded to my Blackberry.

For you folks at EDJ, do you think a Blackberry or other mobile email device is useful, or is regualr email and your BOA sufficient?  Let me know what works well for you.  Thanks!

i think jones has a contract with Verizon and you have to use a windows based platform.

Thanks IronHorse, so you think a Palm Treo or something like it would be better than a blackberry?  Do you happen to know who I might talk to about that at EDJ?

BW -  It has to be Windows Mobile 5 or 6 on a Smartphone or a wireless PDA.  My Palm Treo won’t work.

We get a discount through Sprint, Nextel, or Verizon of 18%.    Your regular email and your BOA will be sufficient for a long time.  You can't do much on the mobile Jonesnet anyway.  No trades, no email.  You can basically look at your calendar, prospects & clients personal info (not their account info), and your performance charts.  To me it's not really worth forking over the money every month for the data package and the hundreds of dollars for the new phone.

you just have to get a Treo 700wx or whatever.  one is windows based and will work.

Thanks for the info…I appreciate it.  I am with Verizon already and the data pkg is about $30/mo.  I am due a new phone and will probably get a PDA phone I can use because it will be 2yrs before I can get another phone.

nice thing about Verizon.  Left Jones 14 months ago and still getting the 18% discount.

I have the Blackjack 11 and it works well. Sometimes the internet is slow but easy to work with and I can edit ‘to do’s’ for my BOA as well as add activities and those were the most important features for me.

Miss J   *BlackBerry doesn't work with our system.

I use a Samsung Blackjack and haven’t had any probelms with it. My area is a 3G with Cingular so my response times are very quick, outlying areas that aren’t 3G are much slower.
