Hello everyone and thanks for hearing my concerns!  My ultimate goal is own a book of business.  I am currently in a salaried position and hold my Series 7, 63 and insurance licenses.  Also, I just passed the Nov. 2012 CFP exam.  I know how tough this industry because I originally tried building a book right out of college in a new market where I had no contacts.  3 years later, I am more matured, educated and motivated.  My strategy is to continue working on salary while building contact and relationships through joining organizations and becoming more involved within my community and then subsequently start building my book.  For the expereienced advisors out there, what would you recommend for clubs/organizations to join?  My first step may be a real estate investor's club, since this is also a passion of mine.  Any thoughts?  Thanks!

Life after wirehouse? 1

After 18 months in the industry, all at WFA, I will be leaving the firm. I have not had great success at a wirehouse. It started well in the apprentice period and the first 6 months, but I missed my hurdle at the 9 month mark and have been scraping by ever since. After taking a further look at the requirements for the next 3 years, I realize that my head is going to be on the chopping block for most of that time barring someone in my network hitting the Powerball. I take full responsibility for this, but I will add that my firm has offered me little, if any, support at the local level....More
