I was wondering if anyone has any experience building a relationship with a real estate broker.  It seems like they are inherently competition (why would you buy stocks and other investments when you can be 100% real estate, right? : P), but I am meeting with one this week.  This is by no means something I think will be a staple of my business, but if there is some way we can co-exist and scratch each other's backs, it could bring me a large account every now and then.  All of his clients are HNW or UHNW and often have needs for 1031 exchanges, which we sometimes facilitate.

So, any value proposition I can provide him?  Or expect from him?

Agents, not brokers. Brokers are in it to sell RE. That’s it. Agents see the value of “us”, tend to play like we do (free agents, not owners/managment) when there is a liquidity event and no additional sale in it for them they “get it”, or when we can help enable a note to finance when there is a margin loan we can set up, create a conforming note, and help their client with lower rates…they love us…
