WHAT WORKS FOR YOU?

May 13, 2005 11:33 am

NICHE MARKETING.

Calling high net worth people on the Do Not Call Lists. You could be real productive at racking up fines and citations… Just fckucking with you. I agree niche marketing works these days- target a selective group of people you want to work with, become an expert at anticipating their potential needs and concerns, develop a solution, then go get them…

My biz used to be all about marketing however due to new compliance rules, what I was doing can no longer be used at my firm.  My budget for what I was doing was around $25,000 a year and it was the best money I ever spent.

About two years ago I was forced to stop.  I tried hiring 3 cold callers but I didn't like or need the type of clients they brought in.  After that, I just hunkered down and focused on my existing clients.

WHat has happened is that my business is now 100% referrals.  I bring in about $500,000 a month from that.  My thought is to pay super close attention to all your top clients.  I call all of my top clients "about 40 accounts"  once a month.  I am very proactive in making changes that don't cost them any commissions when needed. I am mostly fee based. I don't just tell them to hang in there when things are dropping. I am "on it" every day with them.  I also started taking the top ones out to diner with my wife and I.  That was very benificial.

Not being able to market has been the best thing that has happened in my business. Just think about all the things you can call a client on.  Have you checked their insurance..their estate planning. Talked to their CPA? Introduced yourself to their attorney.  Really get to know people. Talk about what is going on in the economy and geopolitically and how that my affect what they currently own and then be ready to make changes when needed.  Investors are freaked out now, so be right on top of their situation all the time. They will love you for it and GIVE YOU REFERRALS. Trust me.

Now I have much more time to fiddle around on this forum because I just make a few important contacts a day, do a dinner once a month or so and manage the accounts.  I'm no super-star that's for sure but this is my take on marketing.

This is from Manila, Philippines. I actually want to start an
enterprise that buys junks from anybody then sell it to junk buyers.
Since I am new in this business, may I know if there are interested
buyers out there to buy junks (papers, plastics, etc.) from the
Philippines? Thank you very much.

Perhaps you should specify that SEO is search engine optimization for those such as Put Trader that are not internet savy and those that are not familiar with the vernacular.  Of course, I wouldn't expect anything less from an attorney (no offense to Bill Singer).

Oh yes I am liking verrra much to be buying and selling many junks.....of all kinds.  How can I be reaching you?  Can I send you a note in a bottle?  Maybe carrier pigeon?  Let me be giving you my bank account information, ok?
