Alright, I’ve been lurking around these forums for a while now and envy a lot of you guys out there having success on the phones.  I’m about 15 months into production and haven’t had much luck on the phones at all.  I’ve opened only a handful of cold calls in that time and only one is really a decent sized account.

I’ve tried a lot of different approaches.  I’ve called business owners, residential and physicians on product, seminars and financial planning.  Nothing with great success.  The few that I opened were curious about a product I called them on and it went from there.  Again though, most are under $100k relationships.

Admittedly, my activity hasn’t been high and/or consistent enough lately.  Only excuse there is the lack of results driving down motivation to do it.  I used to make 200-300 dials a day to mostly residential (I hate getting the run around from secretaries).  I’ve been surviving due to partnering up with a $1.5MM producer out of the gate who treats me well but I’m mentally tired of living off his crumbs.  I’m ready to step it up and start blazing my own trail.

So, to you all, I’d love to hear your BEST cold calling strategies.  What is working for you???  The more specific the better!  Success stories help too.  I know the activity has to be there, but I’m sick of spinning my wheels and would love to piggy back on somebody’s successful strategy.  I’m ready to make 300+ dials per day.  Just tell me where/how to focus my energy.

Thanks in advance to all you hustlers.  You guys inspire.

Life after wirehouse? 1

After 18 months in the industry, all at WFA, I will be leaving the firm. I have not had great success at a wirehouse. It started well in the apprentice period and the first 6 months, but I missed my hurdle at the 9 month mark and have been scraping by ever since. After taking a further look at the requirements for the next 3 years, I realize that my head is going to be on the chopping block for most of that time barring someone in my network hitting the Powerball. I take full responsibility for this, but I will add that my firm has offered me little, if any, support at the local level....More
