It's going to mature at age 100 and the owner will be issued a check. I've read this happens on all policies before 2007. Both fortunately and unfortunately, this is a great policy and the cost basis is low. This means she will receive a 1099 and will be taxed heavily on ordinary income above her basis. She has real concerns about living to 100.

We're just in the early stages and I don't know if I would have an option to replace this, but just curious what could happen on the other side.

http://wealthmanagement.com/forums/insurance/help-mass-mutual-agent#comments Insurance Mon, 03 Jun 2013 04:49:23 +0000 300542 at http://wealthmanagement.com Health Insurance Referrals http://wealthmanagement.com/forums/insurance/health-insurance-referrals

Hey guys,

Long time member but haven't posted anything in a long time. I'm trying to expand my business to the health insurance realm and was trying to think of ways to get in front of people that will refer their health business to me for a split. I've approached captive agencies like Allstate, etc but also wanted to expand to FAs. So my question is two fold. First who do you usually approach to get referrals, and secondly, if you are the one being approached, how do you decide if you will refer business to this person?

http://wealthmanagement.com/forums/insurance/health-insurance-referrals#comments Insurance Fri, 31 May 2013 20:50:51 +0000 300282 at http://wealthmanagement.com Insurance vs. Investment http://wealthmanagement.com/forums/insurance/insurance-vs-investment

Hey I just quit my job as an assistant to an FA (long story...)

Was thinking of going into the insurance side, and then use it as a leverage to get in the training program of a canadian bank on the investment side.

I talked to insurance agents at my old firm, commission seem to be comparable and the market larger yet it seems the investment side attracts far more applicants.

So what made you choose insurance over invesment? Did anyone make the transition from insurance to getting investment-liscenced properly?

http://wealthmanagement.com/forums/insurance/insurance-vs-investment#comments Insurance Thu, 23 May 2013 16:18:57 +0000 295302 at http://wealthmanagement.com VA Trails when changng B/Ds http://wealthmanagement.com/forums/insurance/va-trails-when-changng-bds

What happens to trails when you move from 1 B/D to another. The problem here is I've annuitied a lot of my biz, but am exploring B/D options. If I took a lower payout upfront for a 1% annual trail, is that something that when I take over the contracts again for my client I will continue to get paid? Or is this the VA companies "out" on that deal?

Thanks

http://wealthmanagement.com/forums/insurance/va-trails-when-changng-bds#comments Insurance Tue, 14 Aug 2012 21:08:26 +0000 214541 at http://wealthmanagement.com 1035 exchange trades http://wealthmanagement.com/forums/insurance/1035-exchange-trades

Would you take this trade? will this pass the mustard with FINRA?

http://wealthmanagement.com/forums/insurance/1035-exchange-trades#comments Insurance 1035 Mon, 13 Aug 2012 20:52:11 +0000 214261 at http://wealthmanagement.com The Universal Life vs. Annuity Debate http://wealthmanagement.com/forums/insurance/universal-life-vs-annuity-debate

I'm hoping to get a lively debate going here. Some agents sell Index Universal Life and LOVE IT, but some say the cost of insurance can be too high. I'm not talking about some small fees. I'm talking about if a person is older or in bad health, almost every dime they put into the policy can go towards the actuall expense of receiving that $500,000 death benefit one day. Many sell the I.U.L. as an investment, which of course is illegal. It IS death benefit insurance first. So WHY do some many agents sell the I.U.L. to persons who want to save for retirement?

http://wealthmanagement.com/forums/insurance/universal-life-vs-annuity-debate#comments Insurance Wed, 18 Jul 2012 03:30:35 +0000 210971 at http://wealthmanagement.com Variable Products - Insurance Exam http://wealthmanagement.com/forums/insurance/variable-products-insurance-exam

I recently passed the S7 and S66 and had my Life insurance license prior to the security exams.
