Anyone catch the Diebold documentary on HBO?  It definitely makes you think what could happen with voting and how disastrous it could be.

I think I'll just invest in paper and pens and vote the old fashioned way, plus there won't be any lines.

Sorry Buddy-

All Republicans on this board… That’s why there is NO Comment about your post…

Me and my wife voted Absentee ballots.
Don’t trust those touch screen machines a lick.
You either have to be nieve or a staunch Republican who can’t wait for the Rapture and Armogeddon to have faith in anything to do with this current administration and its corporate buddies.
Come on- Posting "How to make a Nucular (as Bush would say) Balm on the Net…
Plain stupid- or Fundimental Christian- which is even worse than Fundimanetal Islamist… At least the Islamists want to kill just a percentage of the population. The Rapture-seekers want us ALL to go down!!
Scary times we are in…

So you trust the US Post office and a bunch of last minute hired part time

clerks to not lose your ballots??

(Florida ballot papers go missing - news.bbc.co.uk)

or who might decide to throw away the ones they don’t like as it seems

was likely in Oregon?

(Abset without leave - opinionjournal.com)

About one in every four of our military personnel serving overseas will

be disenfranchised this year. The National Defense Committee estimates

that 24 percent of all military absentee ballots filed this year will be lost,

spoiled or otherwise made pointless by government interference or

incompetence.
(Soldiers deserve voting rights, too - oregonvrc.org)

Wow! Government incompetence!! who would have guessed?

I don’t have any faith in the touch screen voting system. At least with the

punch cards or good old fashioned pencil and paper you knew that your

vote was what you intended it to be. Sorry for all of those in Florida and

other locations (primarily Democratic) who are too stupid or too

incompetent to be able to punch a hole in a piece of paper.

We need to have standardized voting procedures all across the US and all

voters should present valid identification. It isn’t that difficult to get a

non-driving ID card. No provisional voting as that is just inviting fraud.

If you can’t take a few minutes out of your busy busy life (get off the

couch, turn off the television) to make sure you are registered properly to

vote and can’t figure out where your polling place is even though it is

prominently posted in several places, you don’t deserve the privilege.

Actually I am in favor of the purple ink method that was used in Iraq.

OMG thank you TOPBROKR!!!!!1!!1!ONE!!11!

I was going to vote the other way, but your insightful, cogent, and coherent post has made me realize the error of my ways.

And I've learned a whole new way of spelling and capitalizing!  How creative!

Damn I'm lucky to be reading this board tonight, just before the election.  God works in mysterious ways.

Wait... TOPBROKR, is God a Red Herring?

Damned straight.  I'm guessing TB to be about 24 years old and stuck in the 15% tax bracket.  Giving his/her language skills, he/she should ask for a tuition refund.

Nice try to “profile Me”- my age, income level, etc…

Mike- who’s illiterate?
You do your little spell-check before posting??
Good Boy!!

Too bad you can’t think for yourselves…
Too bad you care nothing about anybody but yourselves and how little you pay in taxes…
That’s what’s it’s all about for you guys…
You’re all pathetic…
Care nothing about our soldiers dying and getting maimed then getting the shaft from the Gvt. when they get back…
Care nothing about the Billions that were pissed away and given away in duffel bags there… This will take generations to pay back.
But hey- we got our tax cuts!!
Yipee!!
My grandkids are so happy for me- and YOU!!
You’re coming back in your next life as slugs, you do realize that- right?

Nov 7, 2006 6:55 am

"Nice try to "profile Me"- my age, income level, etc.."

I think I'm pretty close.  If anything, based on your posts, I may have overestimated your age and maturity level.  As far as thinking for oneself, your "thoughts" are far from original...John Kerry and Nancy Pelosi would be proud of you.

You're a young punk.  How do I know?  I was once a young punk that sounded a lot like you (albeit with much better command of the English language).  I believed what CNN and Dan Rather told me...I thought the press was fair and unbiased.  I thought Ronald Reagan was a stupid old man that only my grandparents would vote for.  The good news is, it's possible to mature and outgrow such gullability.  Do yourself a favor and print your posts...then read them again in ten years.  If you don't feel shame, you should.  If nothing else, you should feel the shame of an illiterate boob.

I don't know of anyone, save John Kerry and a few far left loons, that doesn't feel for the difficulty faced by soldiers.  Most of us would also acknowledge misgivings about at least some aspects of what is happening in Iraq.  At the same time, your Bush-bashing and conspiracy theories are tired rhetoric to say the least...and it's a stretch to assume that Al Gore or John Kerry would have done a better job.  It's real easy to make all the right calls with 20/20 hindsight.

...and don't lecture me about caring nothing about anybody but myself unless you are (1) Giving away more than 10% of your cash gross each year (I do) and (2) Putting in more than 200 hours a year in community service (I do that too).  My guess is that you're not close on either count...probably too busy beer-bonging and jello-shooting with your still-single-at-30-living-in-your-parents'-basement-and-slee ping-until-noon buddies.

Am I close on the profile?  I think so, but we'll probably never know.  What I do know is...you speak and write young fool very well.

you guys think you can profile me - and you’re completely off base!
AND, I really don’t give a crap about what you think about me or who I am, or how much I give of my time and money to charity.
You’re just like those hypocritical “church-going” folks who turn out to be pedophiles or embezzle millions from the church coffers.
But you’re a good person… Keep thinking that. You’ll actually begin to believe your lies if you repeat them enough!
O.K., so based on MY posts, you think I believe in what the media tells us?
At least I get my news source from more than just Fox… And no- not CNN and Dan Rather… Come on!!!
Who served in combat by the way???
Busch? He didn’t even show up for his National Guard service!!
Cheney?? HA HA!!
At least Kerry served…
But I guess you believed those commercials bashing him by those “Vets” who never even fought with Kerry yet claimed they did!!
Who’s naive???

Let’s boil this down to brass tacks.  When you think the current President’s name is spelled the same as a low-brow beer, I tend to deeply discount most of your other opinions.  I didn’t particularly like Mr. Clinton, but I certainly knew how to spell his name and President Hilary’s as well.  Shoot, I even know how to spell “Lewinsky”!

You think all those lives and dollars are being wasted in Iraq?  I suggest you go back and review the early career of Adolf Hitler and the rise of the Third Reich, and the isolationist response of the US at that time.  Do that just for starters, presuming you can find a history text with enough pictures and one-syllable words that you can get through a chapter or two.  Yes my little man, History started before the 80’s.  Try learning from it.

No, it's pretty clear you count on the moonbat fringe websites...
Who served in combat by the way???
Who? Like who here?
Busch?
Who's this Busch person?
At least Kerry served..
And then after his brief visit (1/3 of a regular tour of duty) he smeared as war criminals the guys he left behind.
But I guess you believed those commercials bashing him by those "Vets" who never even fought with Kerry yet claimed they did!!

You are, pal, if you really think those officers (and an enlisted man from his own boat) that made the commercials you're talking about didn't serve with him.

I bet you believe the memory that was seared, seared,  into Kerry's memory about Christmas in <?:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Cambodia when Nixon was president (during LBJ's term).

AND, I really don't give a crap about what you think about me or who I am, or how much I give of my time and money to charity.  Then why bother responding?  It's obvious from your defensive posture that you don't give anything of substance to good causes...and yet you say that I think only of myself...
You're just like those hypocritical "church-going" folks who turn out to be pedophiles or embezzle millions from the church coffers.  If taking a cheap shot at Christians...even saying they are worse than radical murdering terrorists...excites you then by all means, go ahead...free speech is what we are all about.  No doubt there are hypocrites in organized religion but you and I are not responsible for their behavior...we're responsible for ours.  If there is no hereafter, you're probably OK on your Christian-bashing, but if life after death is real, you make want to re-think your personal stance...
But you're a good person.... Keep thinking that. You'll actually begin to believe your lies if you repeat them enough!  I'm not without my warts, but for the most part, I do the right thing...and I'm comfortable with how I live my life.  Lying to oneself is a waste of time...you should ponder carefully on that.
O.K., so based on MY posts, you think I believe in what the media tells us?   It's pretty obvious to me that you've swallowed a lot of things hook, line and sinker.
At least I get my news source from more than just Fox... And no- not CNN and Dan Rather.... Come on!!!  Sorry...forgot Daily Kos and Moveon.org
Who served in combat by the way???  Not you, I'll bet.

Cheney?? HA HA!!
At least Kerry served.. So he has the right to bash current service members.
But I guess you believed those commercials bashing him by those "Vets" who never even fought with Kerry yet claimed they did!!
Who's naive???  Apparently you since you see only one side of the Kerry service issue.
I have serious doubts about you even being in the investment management business.  Maybe you're a real estate broker...although I can't imagine you being a "top" broker in any field since you just sound like a whiny illiterate kid.

Nov 7, 2006 4:23 pm

TB, relax. You were warned upfront that this solid republican country. Fox news, Michelle Malkin, Ann Coulter, and the Heritage Foundation seem to be the primary sources of information.

Attacking the poster is a popular way to punish noncompliant thinking. Say something they disagree with and they resort to name calling, or other childish games like picking on spelling or grammer.  More times than not you will not get honorable debate, or answers. You will get non answers, the name calling etc.,rather than speaking to the issue. Yet, these people consider themselves mature independant thinkers who have the right answer. Unfortunately, rather than giving that answer, they name call. Personally, I don't get it.

I too took the poster to be more concerned with taxes than our predicament in Iraq. Of course to some here, there is no predicament in Iraq. Everything is fine. Just the war taking its normal course. One guy here, mikebutler(assume the poster is male)  keeps comparing Iraq to the Battle of the Bulge. Which I have to admit, I don't get the reference. And more than likely if I ask for clarification he won't explain it to me without calling me a name. So, why waste my time. But, again the point is Iraq isn't a problem, just a war in progress. And anyone who questions the war is a defeatocrat.

So, to fit in here do your best not to elucidate any republican shortcomings. Tell this group that with all the republicans coming out of the closet lately that the repubicans should change their mascot to the moth, not appreciated here. And whatever you do don't say anything positive about any democrats. This group is just fine with the non checks and balances of the current power consolidation in government.

Preemptive war, Ok here.

Warrentless wiretaps, Ok here.

Suspension of Habeas Corpus, Ok here

Take from the poor, give to the rich via eminent domain, OK here.

War, I don't have to go, my kids don't have to go, war is Ok here

Osama still out there, Ok here

Stem cell research is unacceptable because it is murder, Ok here

You just have to understand the thinking. Get a blow j** and you're a criminal. Out a CIA agent, which is treason, under Bush, not a crime. And they can give you chapter and verse as to why.

If you're looking for answers to Financial services industry questions, maybe this forum will help. Though quite frankly, I'm finding it less effective in that role than it was at one time. Way too much childishness, with picking on newcomers for spelling, grammer ,etc. That chases away new people who don't get the dynamic and diminishes the roll of those of us who try to earnestly help these people.

As for open and honest debate of the issues, this isn't the forum for it. But at times it can be entertaining to engage the predictable.

Question that? Just watch.
