Very clever! Another effing asshole to deal with.
Maybe it's me but it seems that this forum has degraded in quality over the past few months. We're now at the Jr. high school level.
For my part I've come here to try to do some good. Help out the noobs and the rookies.  And doing so takes time away from business. Yet, I justify that as a part of giving back to a business that has given my family and I so much.
Coming to this forum is about learning or giving. What I can't figure out is why someone would take the time to come here for any other reason. Lately though, there is a group that comes here just to bust balls. They add little to the collective knowledge of the group and do much to detract from the intended nature of this board. Are they advisors? If they are it too neatly explains the high failure rate among us. More likely 23 year old idiots with nothing but time on their hands and a lot of growing up to do. Their posts certainly make them look as such.
BondGuysdog, if you want to parody me have at it but, I have to tell you, there has got to be a better way for you to spend your time. I know there are better ways for me to spend my time so here's the deal, I'm done helping out here until Bondguysdog is gone. If these are the kind of people the group wants here that's Ok, good luck with that. Personally, I no longer have time for it.

I hear ya. There are about 4 people whose posts I actually read now. I used to cruise over to this site a couple times a day to check things out.  Now its a quick read over the morning coffee and maybe for a couple minutes during lunch but thats it...

Why so angry? In fact, I admire you, the parody is not personal, rather, about the apparent ego that screen names aquire over time.
Your tagline about your dog is humorous. I guess anything other than between you and your dog is inappropriate. I don't mean to insult you or your dog.
Meaningful content is good, so is a little humor. There is plenty of negative stuff here, and Bond Guy's Dog is a good dog, not a mean or bad dog.
Anyway, 23 year olds can be smart, and on and off topic, and sassy and all, in short, credible, 23 in dog years is about 161 human years. Can you imagine how wise we might be at that age?
It is funny that you got so mad. Sorry, it really is.
Noboby wants to lose you - so you either have to lighten up, or this dog dies.
I thought my posts were thoughtful.
Frankly, this dog's ego is very small - only a few posts. So you just say the word, and I'll kill the dog.
Anyone else care to comment about the dog, or maybe a slightly bigger perspective on the issue of appropriateness here?
Bond Guy, you say the word, and right here and now, I will terminate the dog in a humane fashion. But not without a little growl.
I do think you are one of the smartest people here.

I see, it's ok for the Rutger's Womens BBall team to just toughen up and not be so sensitive for being called names by Don Imus (after all Al Sharpton has done so much worse, not to mention Snoop Dogg) but let someone make fun of Bond Guy and it's off to the land of snit for him!
Jesus Bond guy, man up wouldja?
Yes, there are distracting elements in here. How has it ever been different? When I was here back in '03 there were a lot of the same type of guys here doing a lot of the same type of things. Personally. I judge the post by the post, if it says something I can learn from, I learn from it. If it doesn't I learn from that too.
"I justify that as a part of giving back to a business that has given my family and I so much."
First of all it's "me" not "I", a business that has given me...
Secondly, what do you want? A medal or a chest to pin it on?
Do you really think that somebody is going to be so dazzled by your brilliance that they are going to change their life based on something they read on an anonymous internet chat board? That's delusional! Not to mention condescending and pedantic!
I happen to look forward to posts with your handle (generally) mostly in the General tab. I don't come here to teach or preach or even to argue, I come here because people in this industry are generally some of the smarter people in sales (a curve that I must admit is weighted back by the low hiring standards of "certain firms").
But if you want to leave, don't let the door hit you in the azz on the way out. I've seen much better leave much classier joints than this one. OTOH if you're going to stay, drop the drama queen routine, the popularity vote spiel. There is no ownership on the web, so stop trying to carve out a piece of real estate for yourself.
As I said, I like ya, but I do not agree with this hissy fit.

Well said.
So there is no ownership on the web, which kind of turns the idea of carving a piece on of it on the web seem a little silly.
But it would be terrible if bond guy left, and only bond guy's dog remained, and a lot of people, especially Bond Guy, ended up hating the dog for eternity.
We need some others to weigh in here, does the dog live or die?
I'm happy to stand up for what I believe, but if enough folks complain, the dog gets it.
I just want to be bond guys dog.

Yeah: I see bondsguy's point.  He would immediately think you were going to spoof him or his posts.  It might have been better to ask his permission to use the tagline first.  Or to let him know your intentions of how you will use the name.  Better to be original in your screen name.
I would "dog gone it" after reading his comments if I were you.

You might think I am holding the dog hostage, but it's a catch 22, 'cause I don't want cave into political correctness now.
I enjoyed reading some of bond guys old posts, and he seems smart and likeable, that's why I chose him.
But you are saying, I should just tell him here that the bondguysdog  retreats into the woods, and that should save him face, without weighing in on the meaning of his protest. Kind of like just paying the Stamp Tax and not having a Tea Party.
We should just let him make a speech and go back to England.
One vote for staying.
One vote for dog suicide.

Let's not use he word, kill or suicide.  Retire is much nicer.
You've made it clear you have good intentions and chose your name to COMPLIMENT bondguy as you have made it also clear you are an admirer of his.  You have done this right off the bat. Therefore, since he knows you had good intentions and didn't want to parady or spoof him then it seems unless he is very sensitive that he shouldn't mind.
Try keeping bondsguy dog screenname, give it some time, and see if he (bondsguy) continues to post here; otherwise, guess you have your answer. Otherwise, as I suggested, drop him a note.  It's between you and bondguy to work it out; if he doesn't throw you a bone, come to your own conclusion.

Change your signature line to "bondguy wannabe" ...otherwise, find a new hero who doesn't mind the flattery.  How about joedabrkrII. Joe doesn't mind the compliments.  Or Mr. A the Second. Or Billy Hull the Third, Fourth (and drink a fifth).

Good for Bondguy, bad for all of us rookies.  I, like Bondguy, come to this site to get/give advice and toss around ideas about this industry.  This really is an amazing resource, it's not like you could walk into your office and ask some of these questions and get straight answers like you do here.  Unfortunately for guys like Bondguy and myself this has become a place for degenerates and guys who have been in the biz forever and need to vent their frustrations on some newbie.  I come on here and ask very simple questions, yes newbie questions, but I don't asked to be told I will fail and need to get out of the business.  That honestly helps no one, criticism isn't always bad but there is a time and place for everything.  Don't waste this valuable resource.

Disclaimer:  I am not directly comparing myself to Bondguy, he is a very wise tenured advisor while I am just a newbie.  I am only comparing us in our desires to have the give and take exchange of advice.

Joe,
Not for nothing, but, you know what? YOU are IMHO one of the worst offenders.
You jump in on every fight and add your snark. You perpetuate the bickering at almost every opportunity.
Don't anyone get me wrong, I don't disagree with Bondguy's assessment that there is a lot of air that could/should be let out of this forum. There are lots of threads that I (personally) don't even bother with. The Rookies and Trainees and the What's up at Firms folders are vast wastelands of Edward D Jones bashing and bickering.
Prospecting isn't a float my boat folder in that I prospect in my own way and for my own purposes (which I've described before).  It seems to have become the unofficial "Annuities: Yes or No?" folder. Once you've said your piece, what's the point?
If the powers that be won't do anything about the travesty that those folders have become how can anyone expect any of the rest of the folders to be any better?
There is another internet corralary(?) that applies in this case: The more dramatic the exit, the more likely it is that the poster will be back. It's sorta like the arsonist that can't help but be there when the fire trucks arrive.
Bondguy, we already have one of these guys  http://redwing.hutman.net/~mreed/warriorshtm/royals.htm
and one is more than enough AND you don't pass the "Holy Grail" test of King... "Must be a king!" "How do you know?" "He don't got sh@ all over him!"

I was never banned for a flame war. I got banned because I was making remarks to a poster that had the name "Sexylady" and my remarkes were deemed to be too sexually flirtatious in nature. The poster named SexyLady was tossed, and I got tossed as collateral damage.
Meanwhile, my only intent was to diffuse a flame war wherein you (among others) couldn't seem to just let it go. There are plenty topics that go unanswered here. Lots of people get ignored, but you and your friends (of which I'm willing to remember BondGuy was one, but I could well be mistaken) kept going at SL again and again. If she were ignored/ and or treated with a tad of courtesy, she would have left long ago.
That's why I say that it is (IMHO most) often you and "the usual gang of idiots" (As the writers of Mad Magazine have always referred to themselves) who create the circus atmosphere, and then you complain when the place stinks like elephant dung!

I hate to say it, but I agree with you. We need a moderator to get rid of the trolls...you know who you are!!

Babs, do you have any naked pictures of yourself? You wanna buy some?

Why, yes I do. Thanks for asking.  My husband however has the market cornered, so to speak, in that area.
Just doing my part to elevate the tone of discussion here

Whomit I think "lie" is a somewhat inflammatory term but I appreciate hearing your side of the story.  I would also argue that some of your prior posts were pretty over the top.  No offense intended. You have a point.  It is  illogical and counterproductive to spend my time flaming trolls when others with legitimate concerns/questions/issues are ignored.  A waste of my time, as well. When I think back on some of SL's inane, provocative posts, I am not sure that I agree that she was deserving of a "tad of courtesy", at least not beyond that minimum level of civility that any human(or board visitor) should expect.  Regardless, it would have probably been far more effective to ignore her posts after an initial attempt to politely reply.  After all, what trolls crave is attention. Thanks again for your thoughts.

One of the most wide open forums on the net use to be bikeforums.net. You think the Lance Armstrong wannabes are obnoxious on the road? Try going on a forum with them! Finally, after years of having new members driven away by bad behavior the moderators looked at their wallets and realized it had to stop. They needed new member money. The moderators stepped in and started booting people. The money thing finally outweighed the entertainment value of watching Noobs get their heads handed to them for asking which comfort bike to buy. Thus bikeforums transformed from a forum masquerading as a an informational site, to the what is now the Go-to site on the web for bicycle information. The same thing just happened on P-net. There's a message there that the moderators here haven't gotten yet.
Fact is this forum is what we make it. It can be the Go-to informational site on the web or it can continue to be what it is.
Now on to some specific responses:
BGsdog- You are an articulate person. That tells me something good about you. You probably have much positive to contribute. I'd appreciate it if you would do so under a different screen name.
Whomit - I had a hard time following your posts under your previous ID. My reading comprehension is still challenged under your new ID. I'm still trying to figure out where I said the Rutgers BB team had to toughen up? That's because I never said or implied it, not that it matters. Maybe my posts challenge your reading comprehension as well? I guess that makes us even.
BH - You are another guy who seems somewhat misdirected. Your posts are mix of good content and inappropriate content. Sometimes on the same thread.
Goforbroke - You can hang out anywhere on the web. If you're not an advisor or candidate to become one, why here?
I too have been on this forum for a long time. I changed my screen name last year to preserve my anonymity. I've taken plenty of punches here and coming of age in a tough big city board room did plenty to toughen my skin. So this isn't about my ability to take what's being thrown out here. I can dish back with the best of them. And Put was the best. This is about the senseless moronic behavior that drives the good contributors away. There's nothing wrong with a spirited debate, a difference of opinion, or even some good natured ribbing. Not to mention not to mention putting the smack down to obvious trolls like the Suze lady. But thread after thread goes down the tubes with same senseless BS. If the moderators, who apparently don't pay much attention, won't stop it, it's up to us.
What I'm saying here is I've had enough. I'm tired of it. I don't need to come here to have someone call me a liar over $154,000 of production. I don't need to come here to have someone disingenuously tell me that they parodied my screen name out of respect.
You don't have to like me. You don't have to believe me, just don't call me a liar. And don't make a joke out of the good I try to do here. It's that simple.
All of you are smart people. We could use brain power to make this a great place.
One final note, it's tax time. Everyone here make all the money they wanted to make this past year? If not, you all work in a 100% commission business, why are you wasting time here?

"Imus - Wrong for what he said. However, that what he said is spoken and accepted on the streets in every city in the country by ordinary people speaks to the societal issues facing not only blacks but our entire society as a whole. It's become cool to "Go Ghetto" , the word "Ho", demeaning to black women, has entered the general vernacular and that's a problem." Bondguy<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
Yeah, they say it everyday, so even though Imus was wrong, it's just the way that it is.
"Lyrics like "Piss on a Ho" are OK, no Sharpton, no outrage. Yet Imus is racially insensative[sic]. If that's not a double standard nothing is." Bondguy
What are they getting so upset about anyway? They got no right to be upset and Sharpton has no right to speak out for them because.. because... because....
You did nothing but add fuel to a fire. Even if it was not your INTENT to say they ought to just have toughened up it was the net result of your contribution. By distracting the focus away from what was said and insisting that the issue was about who was complaining about what was said you net subtracted from the progress that could have been made.
Ya know? Imus didn't think he was doing anything wrong at the time either. But now we know better. Don't we?
Further, try to be less literal. The point was that you were all animated on the Imus issue and then you went all aslather when someone poked a little fun your way. Talk about making yourself a victim! Someone calls BS on your first year production numbers and you act like he called your wife a nappy headed ho. He was wrong (far as we know). You have to admit, it's a very rare number for a first year broker (especially these days) and you know it or you wouldn't have mentioned it in the first place (and you'd have rounded it to 150 or 155)! You feel the need to wave it (the bloodied dressings from your insult injury) around like it's some red badge of courage from a flame war ambush? Grow up!
It is these juvenile temper tantrums that tend to poison the well. It’s when some tries to hoist themselves into a leadership position that they often wind up ahoist their own petard. Lead by example not by “spokesmanship!”
Your posts don't challenge my reading comprehension, and generally, if they would, I would give you the courtesy of asking you what you meant to say. (I would not do so over in the Imas[sic] thread because I didn't want to perpetuate that inanity.) Instead you let your solipsistic attitude tell you that it's not worth the loss of internet luster to engage someone in discussion, if you're not telling the world "what it is" then "it" must not be very important anyway!
For those looking for a place to have at it, here http://redwing.hutman.net/~mreed/forum/viewforum.php?f=4&amp ;sid=7ed7cdd2354b5b6b21e6d5200edbad7d is a forum by the guy who did the cataloging of the typical “Netizens” and Flame Warriors.  Looks like a fun spot that is welcoming of  just that sort of shenaniganery.

I just noticed that Who... has almost 300 posts.  WTF?  If someone who isn't a rep but just wants to give us her unwanted 2 cents 300 times no wonder some of the genuinely experienced and helpful people are leaving the board.
Nothing personal Who...., but really, haven't you had enough fun being a nusiance here?  Isn't there someone else you could annoy?
I don't care for the way Bobby does business, or Put's condecending middle management attitude, but at least they had some experience to contribute.
Thanks.

Excuse you EDJ4Now, I have over twenty years of investment management experience and 30+ years of sales experience.
I've forgotten more than you'll ever know about trading stocks and bonds.
You want some advice? Here's some advice! The best way to avoid making mistakes is experience. The only way to get experience is to have made mistakes.
You now have made the mistake of thinking I was someone else. Hopefully this experience will  come to mind as you learn to connect brains before engaging tongue!

oh is that why?  I really didn't know: I just thought it was because he writes well, he's articulate, kool vocab and he seems to win just about every single debate including the one with mike buttler.  He's not overly brutal to others either: live and let live attitude from what I can tell.

It's extremely arrogant and self-centered of you to continue to post on a site called "registered rep. broker forums", if you are not a registered rep. We can't get rid of you, but we can think of you as a selfish POS.

Write to your local moderator and ask them to close the forum and more than likely they will band you because of your bashing ways, too.  Right back at you: takes one to know one.

Your presence here has no impact on my life, other than the fact that when I see you post I say to myself, "what a POS." That's really about it.
