I'm very curious if anyone would share how many branches they cover, retail deposit base, and branch penetration.

I cover one branch with about 50MM in deposits.   Approx 15% of the bank households in my branch have an investment account with my firm.

I find covering only one branch allows for less time driving around which can only be a good thing.

5 branches(two are instores). Deposit base > $70MM. 3-4% penetration.

At 15% penetration, what’s your average acct size?

My average account size is about $50,000

My goal is to have that figure rise gradually as I pare non profitable accounts.

I work in a Credit Union and I spend 99% of my time at one branch.  Once a month I make a trip to another branch 60 miles away out in the sticks.  We have 49,000 members and over $500 million in deposits.  We have a very low branch penetration which is something I’m turning around.

I’m not going to make a comment about the use of the word “penetration.”

Cover 11 branches(all the banks branches), total of 170mil deposits.

Penetration--who knows, I'm not even conneted to the banks system.  So worried about erosion of deposits.  I really only see new money.

Do you guys get to look at maturing CDs and the bank customer's accounts?

11 branches.  About 250MM in deposit.  Huge geographical territory, I really wish it could be pared down two my two main counties.

Yes, we have full access to all bank system info.  No idea on penetration.

4 branches, maybe $200mm assets.  Most of my time and business is at the largest branch, $80-90 mm.  Second largest I can't seem to get any traction, so I don't waste much time there.  The other 2 are really small, but they tend to have loyal clients and the bankers there trust me, so I get lots of referrals, especially when you consider the size of the branches.

I have no clue about branch penetration, pretty high in the smallest branch, ok in the biggest, minimal in the other 2.

I don't officially get the CD list, but I can see it whenever I want to.  Usually I have the bankers calling the CD list for me, I realize the quality of the calls isn't as good as doing it myself or having my assistant do it, but it leverages my time better.  As long as it keeps putting butts in the seats, I stay busy with referrals and existing clients and don't have time to call anyway.

I have a group practice.. and we have about 11 branches in our network..but they have instruction to only give $100k or more in the referral dollars size..so that limits the volume of referrals.. and as we all know bankers are not the strongest at ferreting out the other money..So I think the AUM is over $500mil.

As for penetration I don't think it is more than 2% myself..

We are shaving off about 4 branches from our network this next month..

So there's a number of you that are feeding off of $10,000,000?

I’m having a recruiting lunch with a bank this week.  What kind of payout do you guys get?  If you decide to leave, can you take assets with you?  I’m wondering if banks are good places to gather assets before going indy.  Or maybe, they are great places to work and you never go indy.

Thanks.

Use the search!

Those are good questions to ask in your INTERVIEW.

Ask about payout, non-solicitation agreements, etc.  This shows that you're doing your due-diligence before accepting an offer.

I have 5 branches, about 150mm in deposits.

Most branch managers provide the 30 and 60 day CD lists to me each month.
