The buildup, the drama: Will the Fed raise rates or won't it? Of course it wasn't going to raise rates. Could you imagine the opening question in next Monday's presidential debate? "Mr. Trump and Secretary Clinton, given the recent market volatility and stock market fallout following the Fed's rate hike decision..."

I'm sure the Fed doesn't want to do anything to bring more attention to itself. Then, of course, there is the real reason why it doesn't want to raise rates. Nobody will say it, but I will: The economy is just not that strong. Let's face it, GDP growth throughout the first half of 2016 has been pathetic, job growth has been lackluster, inflation growth rates continue to slow, and on and on. This is with rates at 25-50 bps. Can you imagine? I can't.
