Advisors on the Move: No Winter Blues Here

  • NFP Advisor Services attracted two advisors from Cambridge Investment Research on Friday. After 12 years with Cambridge, Minnesota-based advisors Howard Richards and Jim Goodland made the switch. Based in Plymouth, Minn., the duo has a combined total of 42 years of experience and manage $175 million in client assets.

 

  • Morgan Stanley snagged two teams from UBS and Wells Fargo last week. Former UBS advisors Daniel Tedesco and Dennis Madden joined Morgan Stanley in New York with $161 million in combined prior assets. Meanwhile, the Sand Hill Group formerly with Wells Fargo joined Morgan Stanley’s Menlo Park, Calif. office. The team, which consists of James Wong, Matthew Barker, Justin Harris and Desiderio “Tony” Rodriquez has $264 million in prior assets.  

 

  • Portland, Ore.-based Cable Hill Partners joined the Dynasty Financial Partners’ network last Monday. David Christian, Jeffrey Krum and Brian Hefele lead the team, which advisors on more than $700 million in client assets. The three advisors, along with registered senior client associates Kendra Biller and Amanda Peters and client service associate Melissa Rennie all joined Cable Hill Partners from Merrill Lynch. 

 

  • Co-founder and partner at Casey, Quirk & Associates David J. Bauer will join Nauset Wealth Management in mid-March, as a principal and member of the firm’s investment committee. Bauer plans to develop wealth management and retirement programs for the Westport, Conn.-based RIA’s clients, which include families and individuals with about $90 million in assets managed by the firm.

 

  • Cantor Fitzgerald Wealth Partners acquired First Commonwealth Financial Advisors’ RIA advisory business. With over $2 billion in assets under advisement, the Pittsburgh-based offices will continue to operate with the same team of advisors led by Richard R. Applegate. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

 

  • J.P. Morgan Securities brought six advisors with a combined $1.2 billion in assets onboard from Merrill Lynch, UBS and Bernstein Global Wealth Management. Darren Graff and Natalya Muravchik, formerly with Merrill, will join the firm’s New York office. Ex-UBS advisors Roland Pritchett and Matt Stucke will put their combined total 35 years of experience to work in Atlanta. And former Bernstein advisors Kevin Baker and Dan Sullivan will be based in Seattle.

 

  • Dallas, Texas-headquartered Money Matters opened a new office is Austin, Texas last month. The firm, with $2 billion in AUM, now has eight locations spread across Texas, Arizona, Oklahoma and California. Shawn Stone, an advisor with over 10 years of experience in the industry, will oversee the new office. Meanwhile, Mark Clopton to oversee the recently established Oklahoma City office.

 

  • Cambridge Investment Research picked up a team from AXA Advisors at the end of last month. Led by founder and president Robert O’Braitis, Lansdowne/Boca Raton Private Wealth Management has over $500 million in client assets under management. The group—which has offices in Lansdowne, Va., and Boca Raton, Fla.—left AXA after 5 years. 

 

  • Focus Financial partners helped facilitate several mergers and hires for its two of its member firms. In January, Michigan-based Telemus Capital acquired Beverly Hills, Calif.-based Concentric Capital in an effort to expand its offering to entertainment and sports industry clients. The $2.2 billion Michigan firm also appointed James Housler to partner and senior advisor in its Ann Arbor office last month. Prior to joining Telemus, Housler managed approximately $100 million in client assets at J.P. Morgan.

     Meanwhile, St. Louis-based Buckingham Asset Management acquired Irvine, California-based Wealth Management      Group in January. With about $100 million in client assets, the deal marked Buckingham’s seventh transaction over      the past three years. Buckingham also boosted its team last month, hiring Tim Maurer, a former a vice president        at Financial Consulate in Maryland.
